For those who dare to dream...

Like alot of people, I've got some pretty hefty dreams. No, I don't dream of having so much money I can buy five identical Mercedes simply because I can't decide what wheels to put on and therefore put a different set on each one. But I do dream of being a successful film/tv actor and maybe a clothing model somewhere along the way because it’s the first thing I’ve been interested EVER that has held my interest longer than a few months. The first time I told my mom that I wanted to be an actor she half-scoffed and told me, aged seventeen at the time, that it was too difficult for someone my age to break into acting, stating that most people get into it much younger and that I should focus on my education (I was in highschool so the education bit wasn’t unfounded). I was determined however, and even though it took me until I was 22 to gain the self-respect and confidence I needed, I eventually started working in films. Extra parts of course, seeing as I do not have an agent or any real representation as of yet but parts nonetheless. Dreams are our most precious resources! Without them we wouldn’t have half of the amazing things in this world of ours! The wonderful thing about dreams is that they are class-blind. It doesn’t matter if you come from a Park Avenue Penthouse or the little apartment above the corner bakery. If you’ve got a dream, believe in yourself, and have a little patience you can make it come true. I’m confident that I’ll get my break eventually, even if it’s me standing as a cheap waiter asking in a nasal Queens accent “Whaddya gonna have?” So if you believe in yourself and know in your heart you’ve got what it takes, don’t EVER listen to those who would but drag you down to “reality.” Of course, that’s not to say you go out and land a career-starting part on your first audition. I knew very well that I would be waiting tables or racing cars for a few years before anything BIG came along, but I never stop dreaming and I never stop believing in myself. Even when I get depressed, when I get into a fight with my dad, or even when I maybe accidentally say something on set that I shouldn’t have, I go home, lick my wounds and fall asleep knowing that one day I’ll be able to walk away from this knowing that, painful as it might have been, it was worth it for where I’m going!
